Ex-PSV winger on trial at Wolves

Wolves have taken former PSV Eindhoven winger Ryan Hiwat on trial.

The 19-year-old is a free agent after leaving the reigning Dutch champions.

Hiwat, who can also play up front, has been tracked by Newcastle and was with Oldham Athletic last week, but left the club in acrimonious circumstances.

He impressed during a friendly against Halifax and the League One side were interested in keeping the player on.

But Wolves have now jumped in to offer the player a trial, leaving Oldham director Barry Owen livid.

He said: "We are extremely angry at the conduct of the player's agent in this matter.

Latics boss Darren Kelly added: "I'm disappointed, but the thing with agents is that sometimes they can be disruptive.

"I know Ryan enjoyed his time here, but that chapter is closed and we move on."

Hiwat may be involved in tonight's under-21 friendly away at Rhyl.
