Wolves boss Kenny Jackett praised his team for playing some excellent football as they beat Doncaster 4-3 in a thrilling end to pre-season.

Defensive errors gave Doncaster a helping hand, as the League One hosts scored two from corners and another from an Aaron McCarey blunder.

But Jackett was almost unanimous in his praise of Wolves' performance as they created countless chances at the Keepmoat Stadium.

They scored four goals through Benik Afobe, Jordan Graham, Kortney Hause and Bright Enobakhare.

Jackett said: "We played good football and created a lot of chances, there were some very constructive passing moves.

"I'm disappointed with the goals against but that aside it was a good workout for us and some promising displays.

"The goals apart we gave very little away at the back and showed a very good brand of football, creating a lot of chances. "In terms of our football we played very well."

Jackett made just one change to his starting line-up, bringing in Jordan Graham on the left wing as Kevin McDonald sat the game out with a back injury.

Did Graham and others - with the head coach selecting a different side in the second half - give Jackett food for thought as to his starting line up, with the league campaign starting next Saturday at Blackburn?

He said: "I think I know where we want to be. I think I know where we want to be as a club as well.

"It's going to be a long season, we needed to make sure we have a squad, not just a team, and a squad that is ready.

"We're playing potentially seven games in the first 22 days and we need to be at absolute top speed in every one of them."

Of former Villa winger Graham's performance and selection, Jackett added: "He did fine, it's always nice to score.

"For a number of the younger players, it's been a good pre-season where we can give them an opportunity and see what they can bring to the first team.

"I think width was necessary today. Against Villa we needed to be compact in midfield with the standard of the opposition.

"There's horses for courses, definitely. For us being able to back up and get in behind the front two that we have is very important.

"Certainly Villa on Tuesday and today were two different games and a different approach was needed."

Jack Price was forced from the field late on after taking a knock to the ankle. He will be assessed over the weekend.
