Dennison spent a week undertaking the gruelling challenge to raise money for Diabetes UK.

The 52-year-old - who played for Wolves for 10 years from 1987 to 1997 - passed the finishing line on Friday night.

And when he did so he had already raised £760 towards his £1,000 target.

Dennison said: "It's been the most mentally challenging thing I've ever done but the sense of achievement within the group is fantastic."

Charles Ross, editor of Wolves fanzine A Load of Bull, was part of Dennison's back-up team and paid tribute to the former left-winger, who scored 49 goals in 353 Wolves games.

He said: "A fabulous achievement from one of the nicest, most unassuming fellas you could wish to meet.

"I have been privileged to be part of Robbie's back-up team - to do what he did at the age of 52, for those who suffer from diabetes speaks volumes about the man.

"Wouldn't it be a fantastic way to repay him for what he has just done for diabetes sufferers if he could get him over the financial finishing line by the time he gets back from this epic trip on Sunday evening?"
