Wolves fans will have to wait for their first glimpse of new signing Jed Wallace in action after the midfielder suffered a recurrence of his knee injury.

Wallace picked up the injury during the trip to Clairefontaine in France and has yet to feature during pre-season.

It was expected he would play some part in tomorrow's friendly against Shrewsbury Town, but this latest setback means he's unlikely to play until the Doncaster game next weekend at the earliest.

Wallace was Kenny Jackett's first signing of the summer after moving from Portsmouth and the head coach has endured a frustrating start to the player's Wolves career.

Jackett said: "He's played very little football because of this knee injury but, as long as he does clear it up, he has a long time ahead in his Wolves career.

"I'm sure it's been a frustrating pre-season for him, as it has with us for him."

Midfield cohort George Saville has recovered from his knee injury, though, and could play against Shrewsbury.

Jackett added: "I'm keen to have a look at him, he's come back in a very good place and his attitude's been excellent so he needs to get involved in these games and show everyone his potential."
