The 22-year-old joined the club from Huddersfield earlier this month and has settled straight in at Molineux, featuring in all three of Wolves' friendlies so far.

Coady is likely to be a key player for Wolves this season after starring for Huddersfield in the Championship last year.

And he said he was glad to play his first full game of the pre-season campaign in Wolves' 1-0 win over Burton.

"It's always needed to get that first 90 minutes under your belt and we can move on to next week now," Coady said. "I loved the game, it was great to get back out in front of a proper crowd and there were a lot of Wolves supporters there which was good for us.

"We've been speaking about the winning mentality all week, to take into the start of the season.

"It was a step up from France, Burton gave us a tough game and tried to stop us playing and that stifled us a bit.

"We needed to play in behind a bit more but that's what pre-season is for – we'll learn from that."

Coady had praise for Benik Afobe, who starred in the 1-0 win in a different role at the head of the midfield.

"Benik's the type of player, if you get him on the ball he'll make things happen," Coady said. "Everyone saw how good he was last season and I think he's raring to go again.

"It's about us as a team, passing and getting on the ball and trying to get him in spaces where he can hurt teams."

Head coach Kenny Jackett again experimented with a different formation, playing 4-4-1-1, and Coady said he was happy to fit in to whatever the boss chose to play, as well as expressing his delight at the start to his Wolves career.

"I'm loving it here," he said. "It's a top, top club full of top people. I couldn't have asked for anymore.

"You can see how talented the squad it, it's a very talented team, they love to get the ball down and move it and that's something I want to be a part of."

"I'd like to think I can fit in to whatever formation we play, it's up to the gaffer what personnel he goes with but for me it's about working hard, I'll always give him 110 per cent wherever I play."
