A typically slow-paced friendly encounter at the Pirelli Stadium saw Wolves largely dominate possession in what was a composed and tidy performance.

But with another clean sheet and victory it kept Wolves' winning momentum going, after victories against FC Chambly and Paris FC.

As stated before the game Kenny Jackett selected a strong team, although it was a surprise that neither Kevin McDonald and Dave Edwards were nowhere to be seen after being named in the original squad.

Wolves, sporting their new blue away kit for the first time, lined up in a 4-4-1-1 formation with Benik Afobe often dropping deep into midfield. They had an early scare just two minutes in.

Goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, making his first pre-season appearance of the season after a knee injury, dropped a Mark Duffy shot and then Lucas Atkins prodded against the post from close range.

Afobe glanced a Michael Jacobs free kick just wide and then the former Milton Keynes Dons striker was heavily involved when Wolves took the lead two minutes later.

His through ball was picked up by Dicko who finished smartly with a cool finish past keeper Jon McLaughlin.

The goal settled Wolves who started to pick up a rhythm in midfield while looking for the pace of Dicko in behind.

Jacobs then drilled across goal from the right before Burton twice went close, a Duffy shot whistling over and then Ikeme saving from Calum Butcher.

Afobe was largely orchestrating matters for Wolves and his beautiful through ball set Dicko away, before the goalscorer was crowded out in the area.

Tommy Rowe and Scott Golbourne were linking nice down Wolves' left, with the impressive Rowe showing hints of the form that persuaded Jackett to sign him last summer.

Jon Flatt replaced Ikeme in Wolves' only half-time change and Jackett's team started the second-half well. Jacobs sent a 20-yard free klick just wide after he cut in dangerously from the right.

Then Afobe should have doubled Wolves' lead, taking a misplaced Burton pass and finding himself through on goal, but he surprisingly shot against the post when everyone was expecting the net to bulge.

Wolves' interplay was impressive at times and the largely dominated possession with the game petering out as the second-half wore on.

Youngsters Connor Ronan, Ethan Ebanks-Landell and Bright Enobakhare were all sent on to make an impression as Jackett shuffled his pack.

Burton pushed Wolves further back as the game reached its closing stages and the hosts thought they'd equalised from a corner, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Aside from a couple of promising runs from Bright and Ronan in the final few minutes, it was a dull end to the game.

But, with Wolves keeping another clean sheet, Jackett will have been largely pleased with what he saw, with 90-minute run-outs for Richard Stearman, Kortney Hause, Rowe, Jacobs, Coady and Afobe.
