Kenny Jackett hailed the best pre-season tour of his career as Wolves ended their France trip on a high with their second win from two.

Donovan Wilson's late winner gave Wolves a 1-0 win over Paris FC, following on from their 3-2 success over FC Chambly two days earlier.

For the second game in succession a young striker struck late to give Wolves victory.

And Jackett was delighted with his team's performance in a new 4-3-1-2 formation, which the head coach felt could play to his squad's strengths.

"It was an improvement on Wednesday's game, the players looked sharper and we had more cohesion," Jackett said.

"You can see quite a well-balanced group at the moment in terms of how the players are developing.

"I felt it (4-3-1-2) suited everybody bar probably Ethan Ebanks-Landell who played just in front of the back four but he's a natural centre back, and Declan Weeks who played at right back. Other than that everybody was in position.

"With Jack Price, George Saville and Lee Evans if he didn't get a loan, it would suit a lot of my players playing that way.

"The competition and the creativity and the ability to play the ball and keep it and still retain two forwards was the biggest reason for it.

"It could play to our strengths more."

The players are leaving the famed Clairefontaine academy tomorrow morning, with their next pre-season fixture coming against Burton Albion next Saturday.

Jackett hailed the successful week in France - and said he was looking forward to facing English opposition again.

He added: "It's probably the best pre-season tour I've been on in terms of facilities, pitches, everything is here and I'm very appreciative of the club for setting it up.

"It's been a good week - we've got to the end of the week with no injuries, one or two different systems and different combinations of players as I continue through pre-season and the build-up to Blackburn.

I'm looking forward now to the league opposition, the standard of the two French sides was good and Paris could certainly move the ball, but I'm looking forward now to playing against league opposition to really see where we are."
