Wolves face a fight if they want to secure the signing of former Walsall man Jamie Paterson after Championship rivals Burnley lodged a bid for the winger.

The 23-year-old has long been on Wolves' radar and is seen as an ideal replacement for the soon-to-depart Bakary Sako. They considered a move last January but when Sako stayed for the rest of the season Paterson was not needed.

That interest is now thought to have been rekindled.

However, Wolves will have to move fast if they want Paterson as Sean Dyche's Burnley have made an undisclosed bid.

Paterson moved to the City Ground in 2013 after three successful years at the Banks's Stadium, particularly in 2012/13 when he netted 12 times in 46 league games.

That form initially continued at Forest but he found himself frozen out of the team last year, starting just four league matches. He has scored 13 goals in 64 appearances for Forest and has a year remaining on his contract.

A left-winger will be Jackett's priority this summer to compensate for the loss of Sako.

Wolves have also looked at Charlton's Icelandic winger Johann Gudmundsson.

Meanwhile, former striker Jake Cassidy has joined League One side Oldham Athletic.

Cassidy was released by Wolves at the end of last season and has signed a two-year contract with the Latics.

The 22-year-old Welshman failed to find the net during his time at Molineux, making 25 appearances, after joining from Airbus UK in 2011.

n Wolves are asking for more women and minority group supporters to join their fans' parliament.

The closing date for applications is Friday July 31.
