Wolves travel to Ewood Park on the opening day – the third time in 12 seasons they've opened their campaign at Blackburn Rovers.

And then relegated Hull City and Queens Park Rangers visit Molineux in what will be a stern test of Wolves' promotion credentials.

Jackett said: "We start with an away game against Blackburn Rovers who finished two places below us last season. That suggests a tight game and is a good challenge for us to start with.

"Then we have home games with Newport in the Capital One Cup and two teams just down from the Premier League in Hull and Queens Park Rangers.

"A similar thing happened at the start of last season and they are good games for us to get going."

Wolves beat relegated trio Norwich City, Fulham and Cardiff City at the start of last campaign, with a defeat to Rotherham United in the middle.

Other stand-out fixtures include a Halloween trip to St Andrew's to face local rivals Birmingham City, a Boxing Day home game against Reading and an end-of-season visit from Sheffield Wednesday to finish the campaign.

Jackett added: "It is always nice to be at home on Boxing Day with Reading coming to Molineux and then also finishing at home against Sheffield Wednesday.

"When you see the fixtures it brings it home what is ahead in the Championship and it is an exciting challenge."

Wolves report back for training later this month before heading to Clairefontaine in France for a pre-season trip from July 5-11, complete with two games against French opposition FC Chambly and Paris FC.
