Wolves to host Aston Villa in pre-season

Wolves will take on West Midlands rivals Aston Villa in a midweek Molineux pre-season friendly on Tuesday July 28.

They have fixed up a fixture against the FA Cup finalists, with the aim of attracting a big crowd away from the weekend schedule.

The two teams haven't played each other since both were in the Premier League, the claret and blues prevailing 3-2 at Molineux in January 2012 after a goalless draw at Villa Park the previous August.

Villa will go to Molineux after taking on Walsall at the Banks's Stadium the previous Saturday, where Wolves are away at Shrewsbury Town.

Kenny Jackett's side have now confirmed five pre-season fixtures, starting with the trip to League Two champions Burton Albion on Saturday July 18, kicking off at 1pm.

Then it's the Shrewsbury and Villa - their only home fixture - for Wolves, with another away game at League One side Doncaster Rovers on Saturday August 1 (3pm).
