Stearman is eyeing a contract that keeps him at his hometown club past the summer of 2018 and earns him a testimonial.

The 27-year-old was named both the fans' and players' accolades at Wolves' awards night in Telford on Wednesday,

He's formed an effective partnership with Danny Batth at the heart of defence during Kenny Jackett's reign.

Stearman said: "That was my seventh season and I am contracted for another, which would make it eight, so I need a couple more years and why not?

"It's an incredible thing to be at such a big club for so long and I'm very proud that I'm edging close to that so we'll see what the future hold. I couldn't be happier and I think that shows in the way I've played.

"It's been an incredible couple of years for myself and I don't want to stop here, I want to push this club to where I have been with it in the past, in the Premier League.

"With the position I play, you generally see the better years for central defenders from now on really. I plan on being no different."
