Wolves are set to sign off their Championship away programme by taking a sell-out following of 4,500 to Wigan on Saturday.

Kenny Jackett's side must win this weekend and hope Brentford and Ipswich slip up to still retain a chance of grabbing a play-off spot.

And midfielder Edwards believes the support of the Molineux faithful is vital to the hopes of the upward surge the club has enjoyed in the two years under Jackett.

"As always the fans have made a real effort to travel in big numbers and the players really appreciate it," said the long-serving 29-year-old.

"They'll continue to be key not only to how successful we are in these two games but also in the next few years as well.

"It's another great away following and we always seem to take plenty of fans to Wigan," said Edwards.

"We took loads of fans there in our last game in the Premier League game and also the first away match in the season we got back in, when Andy Keogh scored the winner."

Saturday's game brings back memories of Wolves' last match in the Premier League when Terry Connor's already-relegated side lost 3-2.

Three years on from that day, Edwards admits it's a very different Wolves that will make the trip to Lancashire.

"It was very different then and it was hard those last few games when we knew we'd been relegated," he said.
