Forgotten man George Saville has returned to Wolves and been challenged to force his way into boss Kenny Jackett's plans.

The £1million summer signing from Chelsea is back from League One champions Bristol City, after the completion of his 93-day loan.

But although the Robins romped away with the title and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, the 21-year-old midfielder hasn't got the game time he would have liked.

Saville has made just one league start and six substitute's appearances for Steve Cotterill's side after struggling to force his way into their starting line-up, with Marlon Pack and Korey Smith preferred.

Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett wants the youngster to prove himself in the Molineux midfield.

But it's already well stocked with Kevin McDonald, Jack Price, Dave Edwards, Lee Evans and fit-again Tommy Rowe ahead of him.

Jackett said: "What he has to do now is adjust to coming back from Bristol City.

"They've now got promotion so his job now, at 21 years old, is to force his way into our midfield — that's his job and his task.

"The big thing about Saville is he's left-footed and can bring balance to a midfield and a squad.

"He was non-playing, a bit-part substitute at Bristol, and didn't get as much football as he would have liked, definitely.

"It's quite similar to here – he went into an established set-up and some established partnerships he couldn't quite break into and it will be the same here. I hope it hasn't knocked his confidence."

The last of Saville's seven appearances for Wolves came when he started in the 4-0 defeat at his former loan club Brentford on November 29.

Jackett said: "Some signings like Benik Afobe where you play, you score, you hit the ground running — everything goes. Other signings, you have a different path and it takes a bit longer."
