Kenny Jackett will not give Daryl Murphy special treatment

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett won't target the Championship's 24-goal leading marksman Daryl Murphy tomorrow.

The revitalised Irishman hit two crackers as Mick McCarthy's Tractor Boys mowed Wolves down 2-1 in November.

And with last season's top scorer David McGoldrick almost certainly out for the season, the 32-year-old netted his first in six games in the 3-1 win over Cardiff in midweek to return to scoring form.

But Jackett won't be making special plans to handle the former Sunderland man - because he believes they have so many other scoring threats, including deadline signings Luke Varney, Freddie Sears and Chris Wood, a Jackett target last summer.

And Jackett's words could be wise ones too as Sears has scored three in the last two games as Ipswich have hauled back six points on the Molineux men.

"I wouldn't ever target just one person, but they have a front line full of goals and players that score consistently whichever selection they make," said the Molineux chief.

"They took quite a number of players just before the deadline and Freddie Sears has done well and scored goals.

"Murphy is still the top scorer in the division so he's very good.

"Chris Wood hasn't been used much, Luke Varney was injured on Tuesday similar to David McGoldrick, who looks like he's out now for the season.

"So looking at their options up front they have several options."

Wood, who is on loan from Leicester after failing to agree personal terms with Wolves in August, hasn't scored in seven appearances yet, four of which have been off the bench.

Another Ipswich signing Wolves missed out on was Jonny Williams, who came on in their 3-2 win against Blackpool, the first of the back-to-back wins.

But Jackett won't be any more concerned if the on-loan Crystal Palace attacking midfielder rubs salt into their wounds tomorrow.

"If Ipswich win or any other opponent scores or wins, that's galling enough," said the Wolves boss.

"It's not more galling for one person or another.

"It's not a good feeling conceding or losing. There's no degrees of that, it doesn't hurt you if it's one more than another.

"In a big game like this we're really concentrating on ourselves and want to perform and play well ourselves.

"For the Williams one, he's decided to go back to a club he was with previously and that's his choice and we respect that."

Midfielder Luke Hyam and striker Noel Hunt (both knee) are out for the season, while Varney (hamstring) missed out on Tuesday night.
