In truth, it is probably not the most speculative of statements to claim a player from Arsenal is a good footballer, writes Wolves blogger Richard Hobbs.

They have consistently developed players in the past decade and some have become first-team regulars in North London.

Others have moved onto greater things and some have dropped down a level in order to play.

It is hard to believe that the Gunners allowed Benik Afobe to leave so easily in January to join Wolves. It is easy to say that with the gift of hindsight but, even at the time, many Arsenal fans were disappointed to see the prospect leave.

Especially now when you look at the impression young, home-grown players can accomplish when you consider what striker Harry Kane has achieved this season at Arsenal's rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Benik Afobe of Wolverhampton Wanderers celebrates after scoring to make it 0-1.

Afobe since his move has truly shown his former club what they have missed out on letting him leave. It has taken him 16 games to reach double figures down Molineux.

To put that into context, that is quicker than Ebanks-Blake, Akinbiyi and one Steven Bull.

But it's not just the goals that have made Afobe's impact so telling. His precise movement off the ball and the intelligence to judge when to run showed his football education from Arsenal.

His touch always seemed to give him that extra second to decide what to do and his willingness to run behind the opposition backline has given Wolves an extra dimension going forward.

It's no coincidence that Kevin McDonald's form has improved since Afobe's arrival. The quarterback McDonald finally has a running back in Afobe to devastate opponents.

It isn't just McDonald who has improved following Afobe joining the club. Nouha Dicko seems to have stepped up a gear now that there is another quality striker at the club.

Sako also seems to enjoy playing with Afobe as one of the trio always look likely to score, no matter who they are up against.

He seems to have an infectious positive attitude on the pitch, which has given the squad a major lift. Combined with his natural ability, Wolves appear to have struck the complete package with Afobe.

Nouha Dicko of Wolverhampton Wanderers celebrates after scoring a goal to make it 0-1 with Benik Afobe of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

With Premier League clubs already sniffing around him, he looks set to have a big future in the game; hopefully it will be at Wolves!

Afobe and Wolves opponents this weekend are local rivals Birmingham City.

The last time they played each other, it was their first game under Gary Rowett and set up for the draw following an embarrassing 8-0 defeat to Bournemouth the week before.

Since then, the Blues have hauled themselves out of trouble into mid-table mediocrity and with five games left to play have little to play for apart from pride.

Wolves will look to carry on their goal scoring form of late to improve our goal difference of late and will most likely continue with two strikers up front.

Despite the defensive errors against Leeds, I doubt there will be major changes to the backline and Jackett will keep faith in Batth and Stearman.

Michael Jacobs will most likely bolster are attacking options off the bench after being recalled from Blackpool, following some impressive performances for the Seasiders.
