A third successive victory lifted Jackett's side into the top six for the first time since November.
And the head coach became the quickest Wolves boss to reach 50 wins, in only his 86th game in charge.
Like the previous win over Derby, Wolves soaked up the pressure and rode their luck at times before emerging with the points.
Benik Afobe within 30 seconds of the restart sprinted half the length of the pitch to put them ahead.
Then Bakary Sako's 72nd minute penalty made it safe, with substitute Dexter Blackstock's 95th minute effort no more than a consolation.
