Wolves legend Steve Bull believes pretender to his throne Benik Afobe is a "snip" at £2m but can achieve his dreams at Molineux. more

The 22-year-old has hit the ground running since his arrival from Arsenal in January and went into today's game at Nottingham Forest with eight goals in 14 games to take his tally to 27 for the season, second in the country to Tottenham's Harry Kane on 29.

Wolves' record scorer Bull is delighted to see the emergence of another goalscorer and believes he is proving to be more than excellent value for money.

"I think he was a bargain buy and a snip for £2m and Arsenal's loss will be our gain," said Bully, who turned 50 last Saturday.

"It's very rare to see someone come in and do so well straightaway, but he has rolled his sleeves up and he just seems to want to play for the club.

"As regards any speculation, he should chuck it out of the window.

"He seems to be enjoying scoring as many goals for the club as possible and that's all he needs to concentrate on.

"I think he could his dreams at Wolves. He's playing well in a young team that looks like it could win promotion into the Premier League.

"Him, Bakary Sako and Nouha Dicko are forming an exciting partnership together whereby the opposition don't know who to watch the most and long may it continue."

Bull was speaking as past and present combined to tell Afobe he can achieve his dreams at Molineux.

Afobe's team-mate Matt Doherty is full of praise for the way the former Bolton, Huddersfield, Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday loanee has settled in and describes him as the "perfect" signing.

"He's had an unbelievable impact," said Doherty. "He's been clinical in front of goal and also overall in terms of the impact he has had in the changing room.

"It's so easy to settle in here anyway but he has the banter and has settled in so quickly.

"I think he is the perfect signing - it's as if he's been here for years; you wouldn't think he's only been here for three months."

Like Bull, Doherty believes Afobe can progress to the top flight with Wolves.

"He can definitely play in the Premier League," said the former Ireland Under-21 international, who made his Wolves debut at Liverpool.

"He has scored goals in League One and in the Championship, and we are near the top of the Championship, so he can definitely push on with us.

"Everyone wants to play in the Premier League and we want to get promoted.

"It will be hard but he has only just come here so I don't think he'll be wanting to leave us soon."
