Boss Kenny Jackett today admitted Wolves' missing out on "several" targets over the last few months has left him frustrated.

But the head coach vowed the lack of additions is nothing to do with Wolves and insists he's happy with the strength of the current squad.

Wolves lost out to Ipswich for Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Jonny Williams before the closure of the loan window last week.

Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater and Portsmouth youngster Jed Wallace were other players linked with a move to Wolves.

And Jackett revealed there are others who they have also failed to get over the line.

He said: "Over the last months and weeks we've had several targets that haven't come off.

"For us not to get any of our targets over the last couple of months and recent weeks, yes it's frustrating.

"But it's a combination of circumstances that isn't the fault of anybody at Wolves."

Williams returned to Portman Road for a third loan spell because it's believed he has more chance of regular first-team football there than at Molineux.

Jackett said there are different factors at work in their failure to sign players, saying: "If we could have added, we would, but there's no point telling you 'no we weren't looking.'

"We've definitely been looking, but for the right type and one that would improve us.

"A player going back to a former club is perhaps one reason but there have been different circumstances with different players - some of them publicised, some not."

Jackett believes it's very difficult to attract the quality Wolves want for the right price, rather than merely adding numbers.

He said: "We've only wanted to add quality and bring in players we feel could perhaps take the club forward."

But he stressed he remains happy the current squad is good enough to secure a play-off place.

"I'm very confident in the players rising to the challenge," he said. "It doesn't leave us we feel short. There's a good togetherness and spirit amongst them.

"We haven't got the biggest squad, but that's quite often good because it means everybody here has a chance.

"Also there's one or two players out on loan we could recall to help us out. I've every confidence in the boys we have here."
