Wolves boss Jackett happy with squad

Boss Kenny Jackett today insisted he is happy with his Wolves squad despite missing out on a move for Jonny Williams.

moreWolves will have to play the last seven games plus they hope three play-off games with their current squad after the 21-year-old Wales international opted to rejoin Ipswich for a third loan spell and reject Wolves, Watford and Fulham.

Head coach Jackett has also allowed fringe players Sam Ricketts and Michael Jacobs to join Swindon and Blackpool on loan respectively.

Williams would have been an option as attacking midfielder or the 'number 10' role where Wolves have used Dave Edwards or a second striker.

But the Molineux gaffer has the belief in his current players to continue their play-off push after taking 38 points from their last 19 games and is happy they have the quality needed to maintain their form.

"Yes we are," said the boss.

"The midfield is settled with Jack Price and Kevin McDonald and they're looking quite a good partnership for us and then we also have the experience of Dave Edwards to come in.

"Price and McDonald have been a good combination and then whether it's just in front of them or when I've had a knock or an illness, Edwards has gone into central midfield and used his experience.

"So they're good options for us at the moment."

Jackett also has Lee Evans at his disposal and could recall George Saville from his little-used loan at League One champions-elect Bristol City.

"For us in this run-in to have someone like George Saville to call on, that's a good situation for us," said the boss.

"His loan will be up probably in mid-April but if I felt it was right for Wolves to call him back to go straight back into the team then I would."

Meanwhile, Jackett is hoping he doesn't have to rest Bakary Sako for the Nottingham Forest game next Friday when he returns from international duty next week.

Sako scored after coming on as substitute in Mali's 4-3 defeat against Gabon on Wednesday and is due to play in their second friendly against Ghana in Paris on Tuesday.

Sako has been rested twice this season when he has returned from international breaks.

But Jackett is hoping the 26-year-old will be available for the trip to the City Ground.

"I've rested him before when he's come back from international duty but it's not something I particularly want to do," said the boss.

"The fact he was a sub and only played part of the game certainly helps so we'll see how the week develops now."

Dominic Iorfa and Kortney Hause are set for another appearance for England Under-20s in their international the United States at Plymouth tomorrow (3pm).

"We have a few away and Dominic and Kortney played for England Under-20s on Wednesday which is excellent and I was really pleased and we have Kevin Doyle, Edwards and Sako away," said Jackett.

"We hope the players come back OK from internationals, as you always do."
