But boss Kenny Jackett admits Tomasz Kuszczak will be difficult to dislodge after two successive clean sheets.

First-choice keeper Ikeme has been in full training for two weeks after recovering from a broken bone in his foot sustained in a training ground collision with James Henry at the start of February.

Asked if Ikeme will be ready to play at Forest a week on Friday, head coach Kenny Jackett said: "He'll be fit for Easter weekend.

"His progress is good and he's looking sharp in terms of his handling.

"Whether he'll be match-fit I don't know but I've got confidence - if there was a game this weekend he'd have a chance of playing.

"He's been training outside for the last two weeks and doing lots of handling work.

"He hasn't done long kicking yet, but he's been doing sidefoot passing and striking a ball reasonably well so he's had lots of work.

"We play Derby at Alfreton on Tuesday night and we've perhaps got our eye on that one to play in.

"It would be better if he could play some sort of match."

Kuszczak has kept five clean sheets in his 11 appearances, conceding 10 goals.

Jackett insisted it's no foregone conclusion that Ikeme will make an immediate return at the City Ground.

"I've been very pleased with Tomasz, and off the back of two clean sheets, he's in good form," said the boss.

"If I've got one senior keeper keeping clean sheets and one senior keeper coming back, and some good young goalkeepers, that's exactly where I want to be.

"Kuszczak has just kept two clean sheets, which is excellent.

"But to have Carl there backing up at the moment and pushing to get match fitness is a good thing.

"OK, I need to make the right call but that's fine. It's when you have no keepers that's the tough part of management.

"I'm pleased to be in that situation and I'd want the decisions and the options."
