Wolves boss Kenny Jackett today hinted Benik Afobe has more to his game than Callum Wilson as he prepares for the battle of the strikers at Bournemouth tonight.

Afobe has been a revelation since his £2m arrival from Arsenal in January, his five goals in nine games taking his tally to 24 this season.

Wilson, who has gone four games since scoring his 18th goal of the season, cost £3m last summer from Coventry when Wolves refused to bid that high after enquiring about him the previous January.

Afobe has shown he has more to his game than finishing, as he showed when he started the move for Bakary Sako's winner at Cardiff on Saturday.

And Jackett believes Afobe has plenty to his game compared with Wilson as Wolves bid to close the three-point gap to the play-off zone.

"Benik's evolving as he forms partnerships with players and we certainly didn't envisage him playing that role when he came in," said the boss.

"We've played Afobe slightly deeper to accommodate a second striker but he has the ability to link the play, get into pockets, run with the ball and get up the pitch.

"It's something I wouldn't want to take from his game - if he was just putting the finishing touches to a move, then great.

"But he's been pulling wide or coming deep, getting on the ball, and getting us into the attacking third with power and the quality to go past people.

"It's something he's been happy to do and has enjoyed.

"Wilson is very similar to Nouha Dicko, but they're all good players."

Jackett believes there is plenty more to come from Afobe, who at 22 is a year younger than Wilson.

"It's early days for Benik and he hasn't played many Championship games but he's fitted in well," said the head coach.

"We have some good partnerships between Benik and our players - he shows a lot of promise."

Tonight's game sees Wolves play the first of two teams above them with Watford on Saturday.

But Jackett believes there is no extra significance, adding: "It's a points total you need to get to and if you get that and your form right you'll get there - whether other teams fall away or not."
