'Ten-up' Kevin McDonald is happy to be one of Wolves' forward raiders to help the Championship promotion push.

After being deployed as a defensive midfielder for much of his time at Molineux, McDonald has been able to use his passing skills further forward in the 4-4-2 formation in the last few games.

And the tall Scot showed superb vision to set up both of Benik Afobe's goals in the 5-0 win over Rotherham last Saturday and was again impressive in Tuesday's 3-0 victory against Fulham.

"In the last couple of games I've maybe been further forward which is how I used to play a lot of my football before coming to Wolves," said the double player of the year.

"I've spoken to the analysts and I think I've got 10 assists so far this season so far which is a good return.

"Chipping in with another goal or two would be nice but if I can set the forward players away and they can get the goals I'm more than happy.

"From my own point of view I've always been happy to play wherever in the team."

Wolves go into tomorrow's clash at Cardiff still five points away from the play-off zone in eighth spot despite back-to-back wins.

McDonald is convinced Kenny Jackett's side can achieve a top six place.

Playmaker - Kevin McDonald continues to find himself in advanced positions for Wolves.

"We still feel we've got a real chance of making the top six if we can continue on this form," said McDonald, who won promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in 2009 with Burnley, albeit as an unused substitute.

"Those two home games were 'must-win' after a really disappointing performance at Norwich when we all know we were below par.

"We've got good attacking players who can create chances but we've been more clinical in the last two games and that's really shown with getting eight goals.

"Hopefully that should stand us in good stead for the season and we can only build on it going to Cardiff tomorrow.

"We had a bad spell in November and that can happen to any team, but we stuck to what we wanted to do and it shows the character in the club that we were able to come back.

"We managed to pick things up again and to be still be in there fighting around the play-offs is a good achievement."

McDonald is wary of Cardiff, who like Fulham were relegated from the Premier League last season, but feels Wolves can continue their improved results by relaxing.

"Cardiff is going to be a very difficult game," he said.

"They're a team who are probably in a false position and they have some very good players.

"We've played well away from home in most games this season and we'll go there with the same attitude and hopefully we can sneak a win.

"There might be mistakes from other teams, and I'm sure there will be more twists and turns and we need to be in the position to capitalise.

"We've got to relax, play our game and try to get the right results.

"We won the other night and then we go in to see the rest of the teams have won but there's nothing we can do about that.

"Come the last four or five games we'll see where we are and whether we've got a real chance or not.

"Until then it's just about keeping our heads, playing the way we know we can, and getting as many points as we can."
