Wolves midfielder Lee Evans has been disciplined about another slip-up on social media – but is set to return to the squad tonight.

The 20-year-old was lectured by assistant head coach Joe Gallen and head of football development Kevin Thelwell yesterday morning after a tweet criticising his absence from the squad for Saturday's 5-0 win against Rotherham appeared on Evans's brother Danny's Twitter account.

The tweet said: "Absolute joke my brother is not even in the squad today.

"Went out of his way to play Tuesday night (in the Under-21s) for game time.

"Why didn't you let him go on loan to Watford or any other club that enquired if you're not going to give him game time #lethimplayfootball"

Dave Edwards was paired with Kevin McDonald at the weekend, and there was no place for Evans on the bench even though Jack Price was out ill.

Gallen, who was standing in for Kenny Jackett at yesterday's pre-match press conference as the head coach was ill, said: "We've spoken to Lee yesterday morning and he understands he's put himself in the wrong position.

"When you're that age you can make some mistakes. I thank God I'm not the same guy now as I was then.

"What he needs to do is learn, and act a bit more mature.

"He's apologised and he'll be back in the squad tonight. Hopefully he can come on and help us win the game."

Evans himself took to Twitter when he was excluded from the squad at Colchester last season and was warned by Jackett.

Asked if Evans has been fined this time, Gallen said: "You'd probably need to speak to Kevin Thelwell about that but I doubt it."

Gallen added: "He's going to have a good career but this is going to happen over the next 15 years.

"Right now he's desperate to play, he gets very disappointed when he doesn't, which is good.

"But I'm sure we'll be seeing him soon because we've got so many games."
