Defender Kortney Hause insists tiredness is no excuse for Wolves' lacklustre performance at Norwich.

Kenny Jackett' side looked as if they lacked energy as they slid to a 2-0 defeat at Carrow Road.

It was only their second loss in 10 outings and left them eighth in the Championship, five points off the play-off zone with 15 games left.

Wolves have had three matches in eight days – but Saturday's visit of Rotherham kicks off a hectic spell of five games in 15 days.

But Hause stressed fatigue is not a factor, saying: "No, not really – it's all in your head.

"I'm sure all the players have been playing football for a long time now so they should be used to it. I don't think it comes down to tiredness, I just think we didn't turn up on the day.

"We've had rest and this is our job, so even if we do get tired, we have to dig deep, work hard and try to grind out results."

Hause wasn't sure why Wolves were so flat but believes they need to show more consistency.

He said: "I don't know why we played as we did. I just think it happens. It's football and you're not going to be at it 100 per cent every time you step on the field.

"But I think we've got to turn it on more than we turn it off."

Hause reckons they can still grab a play-off place, despite losing to the Canaries, saying: "Saturday was an off-day and we didn't really turn up or create any chances.

"We didn't give it a good go and we let them off the hook a bit easily. But I'm sure we'll find out where we went wrong and I'm sure we'll bounce back and pick up.

"We're in a good position and we're still in contention for promotion. We have to take this on the chin and hopefully we can stay within touching distance of the play-offs."

Hause added: "It's not fair on the travelling fans who came a long way to watch us, but we'll work hard on the training ground and try to bounce back in our next game."
