Benik Afobe believes he and Nouha Dicko can be Wolves' version of Suarez and Sturridge.

The two started together up front for the first time in Tuesday's 4-1 win at Huddersfield and Afobe has revealed their aim to replicate the impact of the duo, who terrorised the Premier League last season.

Luis Suarez scored 31 goals in 33 games, while Daniel Sturridge netted 21 in 27.

Afobe said: "I've been speaking to Nouha and we said look at Suarez and Sturridge – I know they're world-class players but they have shown that it can work playing two up front.

"Suarez and Sturridge did a lot of interchanging last season and worked hard for the team and scored so many goals.

"On Tuesday night Nouha got two and I got one and an assist as well, which I am very happy about.

"It's just fantastic and we want it to continue."

Afobe scored his third goal in five games for Wolves since his January move from Arsenal against Huddersfield, the club where he made his league debut.

"I was delighted to go back to my old team and get one over on them, especially as Wolves had had such poor results against them for a few years," said the striker, who turns 22 today.

"And to score four goals for the first time in a game this season was really good because the manager wanted us to do something different. It was a bit of a risk and it paid off so we were happy."

Victory kept Wolves in the play-off chase, four points outside the top six.

"I know other teams won as well but we don't care, we've just got to concentrate on ourselves and get as many points as we can," said Afobe.

"We lost on Saturday and were happy to have a game three days later to put it right."
