Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed an interest in signing Wolves winger Bakary Sako - but only on loan.

Redknapp admitted Rangers have enquired about the 26-year-old, who has also attracted interest from Albion.

Sources close to the Mali international indicated this week that he will remain at Molineux until the end of the season.

That's when his contract is due to expire and he is reluctant to join a Premier League side locked in a relegation battle.

Redknapp added his head of football operations has been in touch with officials at Molineux about a deal, ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.

Redknapp said: "We made an enquiry about him. Les Ferdinand spoke to the people there."

However, Redknapp went on to reveal Rangers were chasing possible loan deals, which would appear to rule out signing Sako.

He said: "We are looking for a couple of loans. If we can find deals we will do them, but we need to get them over the line and, at the momen,t we are not close to doing anyone.

"Up front, that's where we are looking. The chairman and Les are getting on with that side of it, working away, but it's not easy."
