Wolves will block any attempt to prise away fringe players Michael Jacobs and Leon Clarke – unless they are offered big money.

Jacobs and Clarke, who is out of contract in the summer, have been on the periphery for a while.

Winger Jacobs, who was the subject of an enquiry from Birmingham in the last loan window, has returned to the 18 in recent games with Bakary Sako at the African Cup of Nations.

But Clarke has slipped down the pecking order with the arrival of £2m striker Benik Afobe.

"We haven't got a big squad and both of those have been subs on a regular basis," said head coach Kenny Jackett.

"With a number of players, if the right offer came in, we'd have to consider it.

"But those are the next ones into the team in their particular positions. I'd think it's very unlikely to happen, but in terms of a big bid, then fine. Other than that, I'd very much doubt it for our substitutes."

Jackett said any loan interest in Clarke and Jacobs has cooled.

"It's been very quiet, although these things tend to build up towards the end of the window," he said.
