Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has ruled out a loan move for forgotten man Michael Jacobs while Bakary Sako is out in Africa.

Jacobs has featured only fleetingly this season and head coach Jackett admits there have been enquiries for the 22-year-old winger's services.

But Sako's involvement at the African Cup of Nations means Wolves are short of options out wide – and for now the former Derby County ace looks like staying put.

"Since he's been out of the 18 in the last couple of months we've had enquiries but it's not something we're looking at, at the moment," said Jackett.

"He won't be departing while we're focused on these games."

Jacobs was a key figure in Wolves' League One title winning side last term but has made just 12 appearances this season, mostly from the bench. He last featured as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth last month.

In the long term, Jackett admits a loan move could be an option. "I'd think with Mike there's frustration at not playing," he admitted.

"If he can get minutes on the pitch and play at Wolves, he'd be happy here. If he's not playing for any period of time, your thoughts are then turned to moving elsewhere.

"That's going to be probably the key to it – his involvement."

James Henry replaced Sako against Blackburn and Fulham and Jacobs would appear to be next in the queue should Jackett make changes.

"It's about now lining everyone up and making sure they're all ready," added the head coach.

"They all know the roles they're asked to play and then you can finish this run of games on a high note.

"With Sako missing, we have natural widemen in Van La Parra, James Henry and Michael Jacobs.

"Liam McAlinden is the only other naturally left-footed player who can play there, although predominantly he's played most of his games as a centre-forward.

"To replace Sako over the next few games, they're the options."
