The 23-year-old is heading to Denmark to link back up with former Wolves chief Solbakken, after agreeing a deal which runs until June 30.

The Icelandic striker has 18 months left on his contract at Molineux, having spent much of last year on loan at Norwegian champions Molde.

Solbakken brought the player to England for £2.4million from Lillestrom in 2012, but he hasn't featured for Wolves since December 2013.

He snapped up 30-year-old Foley, who had been on loan at Championship rivals Blackpool, yesterday after the club reached agreement to cancel his contract.

Foley, whose deal was due to expire in the summer, is leaving after seven-a-half years at Molineux and 213 appearances.

Jackett said: "We thank Kevin for his excellent service to Wolves over many years. On behalf of everyone at Wolves, I'd like to wish him all the very best in his future career."

Solbakken said: "Kevin Foley is a rock solid and experienced defender with experience in the Premier League, the Championship and the Irish national team.

"Now we are heavily covered with Kevin, who is 100 per cent reliable."

Foley was signed from Luton in August 2007 for £700,000 by former boss Mick McCarthy and was Player of the Year as Wolves won the Championship title in 2008-09.

Jackett admitted the time had come for Foley to leave for his and the club's benefit.

He had slipped behind Matt Doherty, Sam Ricketts, Ethan Ebanks-Landell and Dominic Iorfa in the pecking order at right-back.

The Wolves boss said: "Kevin is a very good player and a professional who handles himself very well and he's still fit.

"Like a lot of the players, it probably was the right time to move on. Some good right-backs have emerged here – Matt Doherty and more recently Dominic Iorfa.

"I brought in Sam Ricketts, who played his best football for us at right-back and captained the side as someone fresh from the outside, which meant he was the right signing at the right time."
