The 24-year-old captain put in a man of the match display at Hillsborough to help his side end a run of five successive defeats.

And now the skipper is looking for his side to pick up more momentum as they enter the festival spell that will seem them play four games in 14 days.

"It's non-stop. The Championship's a great standard and the lads are really going to be looking forward to the Christmas fixtures now," Batth said.

"Our fans have not had much to cheer about in the last few weeks so delivering a big away win at a club like Sheffield Wednesday was important.

"Hopefully we'll get some form together and we'll keep at it now and get the results needed over Christmas."

Batth applauded all four corners of Hillsborough on Saturday after enjoying two successful loan spells with Wednesday, including in 2011/12 when he helped the team win promotion to the Championship.

He said: "We've rolled up our sleeves and come to Sheffield Wednesday who are a very tough team to play against and we've got a result so it will send the supporters away happy.

"I think we earned our luck at times, they had a few chances but it's a game of football so we try and keep those down to a minimum. There were some good blocks and interventions made by our back four."

Kortney Hause made his full Wolves debut, a week after Dominic Iorfa made his bow against Bournemouth.

And Batth said: "The two young lads did brilliantly, it looks like they've been in there for a long time so they'll be proud and that will give them a confidence boost. It's fantastic. As a young player, it's always something you aspire to, to get an opportunity in a first team."
