Wolves chairman Steve Morgan is facing a Football Association fine if he is found guilty of insulting referee Mike Jones.

The Molineux chief remonstrated with Jones following a series of controversial decisions in the 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.

Football's governing body alleges that 'his language and/or behaviour after the end of the fixture was abusive and-or insulting and-or improper.'

The Wolves owner now has until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge.

Wolves had winger Rajiv van La Parra and defender Matt Doherty sent off during their fifth straight defeat.

Jones had to be escorted off the pitch at the end of the game with a furious Morgan venting his frustration at the official.

On the incident, the chairman said: "I was extremely angry but I would like to apologise personally to Mike Jones."

Wolves were also – indirectly– involved in another FA charge with Georg Margreitter finding himself in the middle of a potential paperwork error.

The FA charged Chesterfield with a breach of the FA Cup rules, after allegedly fielding an ineligible player in their second round clash against Milton Keynes Dons.

Milton Keynes Dons were beaten 1-0 at home by Paul Cook's Spireites on Saturday, during which Margreitter featured for the away side.

It is alleged that Margreitter – on loan from Wolves – played in the fixture without the necessary written permission having been received by the noon deadline the day before.

Meanwhile, chief executive Jez Moxey has reiterated that Wolves won't be held to ransom as they begin the countdown to the January window.

Moxey said: "We won't pay £2m over the odds for any player. The amount of work by the scouts is huge. Now we need to find replacements in January for Bakary Sako and Nouha Dicko."
