The 19-year-old was handed his chance against Bournemouth on Saturday and looked at ease, picking up the Man of the Match award, despite the 2-1 defeat.

And the recently-capped England Under-20 international is hoping for a long run under boss Kenny Jackett.

He said: "It was a great experience for me to make my debut at Molineux. Obviously the result wasn't the best, but for me personally it was still a good experience.

"I thought I had a chance a couple of days before the game when the gaffer worked on team shape as he normally does.

"I was in the starting 11 so I had a good idea from there and that gave me a bit of time to get ready for it.

"I'm happy playing right-back – I think centre-back is my more natural position but I've played a lot on the right and it's where I was with Shrewsbury on loan last season.

"I am happy to play anywhere really!"

Iorfa has been talked of a first-teamer in recent weeks, because of Wolves' defensive frailties, and he admitted it was a nerve-wracking experience to begin with.

He added: "I was a little bit nervous before the game but fortunately my first touch in the game was a good one and after that the nerves disappeared.

"I just tried to play my normal game. It helps that I've trained with the first team and have been in a few squads recently so I know the lads.

"It helps as well when you can feel the crowd behind you as well. They helped me through it and helped the whole team to be honest because they were positive the whole game.

"I was generally pleased with my performance and felt I had a decent debut although, obviously, it would have been so much better if we had won!"

Wolves were leading 1-0 in the game before Rajiv van La Parra was controversially sent off by referee Mike Jones. And Iorfa admits, it was a game-changing moment.

He said: "Before the sending-off, I thought we were looking comfortable and looking good but the red card changed the whole game and made it tough against a good team.

"From where I was, the sending-off looked very harsh."
