Wolves midfielder Lee Evans is halfway into a six-week recovery from his broken hand – but Kenny Jackett may consider his recall in the meantime.

Evans missed Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest with a broken scaphoid – the bone between the wrist and the thumb – after playing with it for two games.

The 20-year-old midfielder – Wolves' most improved player this season - has been hindered by the injury since landing awkwardly in the 0-0 draw against Birmingham on November 1.

"Every week that goes past – and he's three weeks into it now – he's getting better because a lot of the swelling has gone away and visually it doesn't look so big or puffy," said the head coach.

"I didn't feel he was 100 per cent and maybe he's holding that arm as if he doesn't to get another knock on it perhaps from falling on it.

"Certainly his mobility and his balance didn't quite look the same.

"He doesn't need it operating on and it will heal naturally, so as the swelling goes down, I'll feel more comfortable that he'll be able to feel at his very best.

"He's something like three weeks into it now where it will take six weeks for the swelling to go completely and then the mobility and the wrist and the hand will be right.

"It does affect your turning and your balance ever so slightly but it's enough to give him an edge and that was my reason for leaving him out on Saturday."

Jackett is cautious about Evans's chances of being available for Saturday's trip to Brentford and admits the youngster has been inhibited when he has played.

"I felt he's been a little inhibited in the games he's played and I didn't really think in the games he's played with it that he's been at his best," said the boss.

"He's been very good defensively for us and he's been competitive and got tackles in but certainly at Derby, Jeff Hendrick ran off him.

"He was probably one of the only players who had an excuse for their performance in those games."
