Wolves in the market for a loan defender

Boss Kenny Jackett will scour the loan market in a bid to shore up Wolves' dodgy defence – but insists outcast Roger Johnson has not crossed his mind as a solution.

After Saturday's 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest made it eight goals conceded in two games, boss Jackett is weighing up defensive reinforcement options.

The emergency loan window closes on Thursday and the head coach is far more likely to go down that route than consider offering an olive branch to Johnson.

Jackett said: "That (Johnson) is not something I have considered and I am very unlikely to think about that.

"We can do better internally. But you are always looking at the loan deadline on Thursday and then the January window to be able to turn things around if you need that option.

"It depends on who is available and what calibre of player you can bring in at present.

"But we do need to find an equation at the back that stops these goals going in because we have gone from a very compact unit and being defensively very stringent to conceding some very poor goals."

Jackett insists the whole team must carry the can for the recent defensive woes – and wants more from his attackers too.

He added: "That's 10 goals against in three games, which is poor, and then only one scored – that's a big swing and it's something we need to address quickly."

Ethan Ebanks-Landell limped off with a hamstring problem against Forest and is a doubt for Saturday's trip to Brentford, but Scott Golbourne and Nouha Dicko could return.

Dicko faces a fight to regain his place after Jackett was impressed by Sunderland loan man Danny Graham's debut on Saturday.

Jackett added: "Danny worked very hard and does look like he can score goals."
