Boss Kenny Jackett confirmed for the first time publicly that Wolves will sign replacements in the January transfer window to replace the top scorers.

Sako and Dicko are set to be selected for Mali's squad for the finals in Equatorial Guinea from January 17 to February 8.

They face missing up to five Championship games for Wolves after the nation's qualification was sealed with a 2-0 win over group B winners Algeria on Wednesday night.

Head coach Jackett said: "We'd like as many options going in as possible but we do need to cover it with signings.

"I think we have to assume the worst case scenario. The good thing is the transfer window is open.

"We'll have to see where we're lacking and cover Bakary Sako and Nouha Dicko, who have been big players.

"Their good form has coincided a lot with our good form."

Jackett hinted there is more scope to strengthen his squad after adding three permanent additions since May.

"If you look at the amount Brentford or Rotherham have signed, we haven't signed many - Rajiv Van La Parra, Tommy Rowe and George Saville with Yannick Sagbo for a month," he said.

Sako returned early from international duty because he was suspended for Wednesday's win, while Dicko is set to miss tomorrow's visit of Nottingham Forest with tight hamstrings again.

And Jackett confirmed the 26-year-old is ready to face the club who tried to sign him in August 2013 for his 99th Wolves appearance tomorrow.

On the last two occasions Jackett has rested Sako after playing for Mali but the boss said: "He'll be fine. He's fresh."

Meanwhile, Lee Evans is set to play again with a cast after breaking a bone in his wrist against Birmingham.

"Lee has a heavily bandaged wrist but is OK for selection," said Jackett.

"He doesn't need an operation and every week it will get better."

Dave Edwards (medial knee ligaments) should know how long he will be out within days.

"I think we'll have a good understanding of where he is within the next few days and how long he'll be," said Jackett.
