Wolves boss Kenny Jackett hopes a lesson from Sir Alex Ferguson can help restore his side to winning ways against Nottingham Forest.

The Molineux boss has borrowed a phrase from the Manchester United legend as he looks to get his side back on track after back-to-back defeats at Ipswich and Derby.

And Jackett insists Wolves must learn from losses in their last two games on Saturday, saying: "The most important thing is the analysis of what you're doing.

"Sir Alex Ferguson used to say 'if you win you deserved it and if you lose you needed it.'

"We can talk about responding and bouncing back, but we won't bounce back as a club unless we make the right assessment.

"The assessment might be 'the 11 are fine, out they go again' or it might be that we need to change the formation or the combination of players."

But Jackett has backed midfield pair Kevin McDonald and Lee Evans to bounce back to the criticism they received for their displays at Ipswich and Derby.

They were at fault for Ipswich's goals before being outplayed by high-flying Derby, but Jackett said: "Up until the Ipswich game those two were outstanding – at Leeds they were unbelievable in a victory.

"Both of them have had good seasons up until Ipswich and Derby. Our midfield has been a strength.

"Mainly this season our midfield has been Evans, McDonald and Dave Edwards; certainly 75 per cent of the games and those three have done well and Evans and McDonald have done well as a pair.

"That wasn't the case at Ipswich or Derby but they have done very well. Defensively we were lacking at Derby in midfield. It's something they have to be better at.

"It's not a case that they've been poor players for us; they've been good players for us.

"Do they need to track runners, close down, make it more difficult from throw-ins and pick up people from set-pieces? Yes they do."
