The Togo wide man has made just two starts since joining the club for £2.5million from Rennes in August 2012.

Boukari, who has 19 months left on his contract, is on his way back from a torn hamstring that required surgery in July.

Previously he was kept out by a complicated calf problem then was loaned out to Sochaux in the second half of last season.

Head coach Kenny Jackett said: "Razak is in the latter stages of rehabilitation and will be back in full training within two weeks.

"He's close to full fitness. We'll certainly have a look at him, he'll come into the group when he's fit because the couple of games he had in pre-season he looked pretty good.

"I wasn't there but the staff were quite impressed so as a club we'll assess him and see.

"He's had two-and-a-half years struggling with injury; he went to France but I watched a few of his games and to me he didn't look 100 per cent.

"He didn't look the explosive athlete he looked in pre-season here where he generally looked quick in the testing.

"So hopefully for the lad he can sort out his problems because he's had a terrible time with injuries.

"Maybe it was always heading towards an operation and that surgery could sort him out and give him the confidence to sprint full out like he's capable of."

Jackett has plenty of wide options but insisted he won't allow Boukari to leave without having a good look at him first.

He said: "I won't let him go out of the door without looking at him definitely. I'll make sure we've made the right decision.

"He came off the bench a few times for Sochaux and here within two weeks of coming back for pre-season training he did his hamstring again.

"So I really hope for him and the club that it's the end and this operation cures his problems."
