Double blow for Wolves with Ipswich defeat
Boss Kenny Jackett admitted two "glaring errors" cost Wolves dearly as they lost 2-1 at Ipswich Town.
The Wolves head coach also criticised the tackle on Dave Edwards after the midfielder was left with knee ligament damage.
Mistakes by midfielders Kevin McDonald and Lee Evans were punished by in-form striker Daryl Murphy sandwiched James Henry's equaliser, as Mick McCarthy's side deservedly won 2-1.
Jackett said: "We can look at the nature of their goals and they were two quite glaring individual errors really that led to them scoring.
"McDonald and Evans have been good players for us and they can get on the ball and to be fair both had time in the situations they were in as well.
"They weren't particularly rushed and had plenty of time, but they've been good players for us.
"Other notable incidents could have changed it – perhaps a penalty when Michael Jacobs went through, which some you get, some you don't."
Edwards lasted just 14 minutes after being caught by a late challenge, with Jackett saying: "It's a knee ligament injury from a bad tackle which took him right out.
"Those tackles are never nice when you get a knee ligament injury like that. I don't know how serious it is – it's hard to assess at the moment but there's a fair bit of swelling."
Edwards looks like being out for a while and Jackett admitted Wolves will miss him.
He said: "He's been a very good player for us so far this season and the combination of those three – Evans, McDonald and Edwards has been strong for us and helped us get the results we've got.
Ipswich put Wolves under a lot of pressure and Jackett also admitted his side were bullied, at times.
He said: "Generally Ipswich put pressure on us; I thought they put pressure on us physically.
"I felt they were putting the ball in to Daryl Murphy from a wide area and it was dropping for a throw-in.
"It's hard to get that ball out, whether you play it out, whether you can clear it or whether you just basically block and stop the ball coming into your box that much.
"You must do those things against any side but certainly away at Ipswich."
But Jackett felt thatWolves didn't do enough going forward tonight, as Leon Clarke was pushed into the lone striker role.
Edwards was replaced by Jacobs, as Liam McAlinden was benched and there was no place in the 18 for on-loan Hull City forward Yannick Sagbo.
Jackett said: "We didn't exploit the spaces that were there, and particularly in their half of the field, we didn't show a cutting edge or a counter that could have swung the balance of the game back our way.
"Ipswich worked our goalkeeper more than we worked theirs. Overall the flow of the game went more towards our box than theirs and their forwards worked our keeper more than we did theirs.
"There were spaces to counter and to attack and that's the best way as the away side – to have a threat yourself but just generally we didn't have that threat.
"Whoever you are, you always need another striker but Ipswich are good in this division.
"Both sides are level on points and Ipswich on a Tuesday night with the crowd behind them - which they were, very positive – give you a good game."
