The Scotland international has bagged nine in 57 League games for the Portman Road side – including four this season – after failing to find the net in 154 outings for Wolves.

Berra left Wolves on a free transfer in May 2013 after they were relegated to League One, having been shunned by Dean Saunders in favour of Kaspars Gorkss.

The 29-year-old said: "I think I'd celebrate scoring. I'm playing for Ipswich so why not?

"I enjoyed my time at Wolves, but it didn't end on the best note. I kind of got put to the side for the last 16 games, I wasn't even in the squad.

"That was a bit disappointing after what I'd done over the four-and-a-half years.I had a great time at Wolves, I made a lot of good friends, it's a good club and they have good fans.

"But I'm playing for Ipswich and that's all I care about."

Meanwhile, Wolves' former Ipswich loanee Richard Stearman is thankful for the influence of Tractor Boys boss Mick McCarthy and assistant Terry Connor after they signed him for both clubs.

Stearman said: "Mick and TC have played a big part in what I've achieved in my career. It will be good to see them again."
