Wolves have extended striker Juan Agudelo's trial after the player picked up an injury while the club await a work permit.

He's a cheeky chappie - watch Juan Agudelo flick a quality back-heel over the goalkeeper as he scores for New England Revolution last year.

The United States international has suffered a calf niggle in training and a decision won't be made on whether to offer a deal until he is fully fit.

Head coach Kenny Jackett said: "He hasn't trained for the last couple of days so we're hoping he can be back out there today but we're not sure.

"He's basically still on trial and no decision has been made. Perhaps he'll still be here next week but we'll have more idea today to see whether he can get back.

"Hopefully, it's a short-term injury and the trial could carry over to next week depending on the severity of the injury."

Jackett believes a later decision will help Wolves in giving the 21-year-old time to obtain a Cypriot passport, which will take around six weeks.

He said: "The chances of immediate appearances are quite slim so I wouldn't think there's necessarily a rush, as we know from the work permit issue.

"We're no nearer with that – it's really his people making sure it's sorted, and then us really making a football decision."

Jackett is still confident Wolves can gain clearance for him to sign, saying: "We're reasonably optimistic although you can never tell.

"He's looking for somewhere to train so neither party is losing anything."

The Molineux chief added: "It would be fantastic if he came through for Wolves, because it's hard to sign good forwards."

Meanwhile, Bakary Sako will be fit to return to action at Millwall tomorrow after scoring for Mali in their 3-2 defeat to Ethiopia on Wednesday.

But Jackett says he's weighing up whether the five-goal winger will play, saying: "I'll see him today but he's told the physio he has no injury problems.

"It will just be energy levels really and whether I feel it's right for him to start. It's asking a lot – Ethiopia, Mali and the games are very close together but I'll remain open-minded."
