Wolves to offer Juan Agudelo another trial

Wolves are set to offer United States striker Juan Agudelo another week's trial to see if they can thrash out a deal.

moreHe's a cheeky chappie - watch Juan Agudelo flick a quality back-heel over the goalkeeper as he scores for New England Revolution last year.

But either way, fans could be waiting six weeks to see him in action.

The 21-year-old America international played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against an experienced Queens Park Rangers side on Friday afternoon.

And the club want to act quickly with possible renewed interest from the Premier League, where the Colombian-born striker wants to play.

However, getting a work permit is a possible issue with Agudelo looking to apply for a Cypriot passport – which could take around six weeks.

Cyprus has recently relaxed its rules for citizenship in an effort to promote foreign investment.

Any applicant investing at least 2.5m euros in the country should be granted a passport within 60 days, and suggestions from the States are that he could receive the necessary paperwork within six weeks.

Stoke, twice, failed to get a work permit for the forward signing him last season.

They couldn't persuade the authorities to allow him a permit as he hadn't played 75 per cent of the United States' internationals in the last two years.

Agudelo ended up finishing the season on loan at Utrecht, scoring three times in 14 games before becoming a free agent.

But with the prospect of such a large investment for what could be a short-term contract if the player wants to leave in January, Wolves face a dilemma.

Head coach Kenny Jackett is, however, confident they can secure clearance for the former New York Bulls, Chivas and New England Revolution forward.

Ex-Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has joined Championship rivals Brentford on trial.

The 28-year-old, without a club after being released by Ipswich, scored for the Bees' development side in a 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield.
