Wolves are running the rule over highly-rated American striker Juan Agudelo – who was dubbed a future £10million star in the summer.

He's a cheeky chappie - watch Juan Agudelo flick a quality back-heel over the goalkeeper as he scores for New England Revolution last year.

The 21-year-old United States international is set to play in a friendly this afternoon against Queens Park Rangers at their Imperial College training ground in Harlington (1pm), alongside new loan signing Yannick Sagbo.

Agudelo has 18 senior caps for the United States but hasn't played for five months after Stoke twice failed to get a work permit for him.

Back in the summer, Potters chief executive Tony Scholes said: "Clubs over here may have to wait until he's proven himself in Spain and then pay £10m for him."

But with a suggestion that the player may be obtaining a Cypriot passport shortly, Wolves head coach Jackett doesn't foresee any problems with red tape.

"I don't think the work permit is an issue. Everything looks OK," said the boss.

"We haven't applied for one because we haven't decided to sign him yet but the enquiries we've made so far suggest everything will be fine if we want to take him.

"He's 21 so if we do sign him we'll be looking to make him a first-team striker. He's been on trial this week so we'll have a look at him in the game and then we'll talk."

Agudelo has been training with Orlando City but ideally wants to play in the Premier League.

"He's over here full stop – he's not waiting to go back to the States, he's very keen to get into English football," said Jackett.

"He's very strong and a good finisher, and in training he looks quite mobile - he has a bit of everything."

Agudelo joined Stoke when his contract with New England Revolution expired earlier this year.

But he wasn't granted an automatic visa because he hadn't played 75 per cent of United States' competitive games over the past two years.

Scholes and City manager Mark Hughes argued Agudelo had been injured and claimed he'd won 18 caps, despite established stars including Landon Donovan.

But the Football Association turned down his case in November and May, after he spent the second half of the season on loan at Utrecht, scoring three goals in 14 games.

Agudelo played four seasons in Major League Soccer, scoring 17 goals in 78 league appearances for New York Red Bulls, Chivas USA and the New England Revolution.

Wolves: Flatt; Iorfa, Swan, Ebanks-Landell, O'Hanlon, Foley, Saville, Weeks, Jacobs, Sagbo, Agudelo.
