Tuesday night's 1-1 Championship draw at Charlton followed on from last weekend's goalless stalemate at Blackpool.

But Jackett feels it has not been for the want of trying from his side, who he believes made most of the running at the Valley.

He said: "As the away side, we don't set out to frustrate – if anything on Tuesday night there was some frustration from me in the time they were taking over goal kicks and things like that.

"We were the away side and wanted to get on with it, which was a good attitude from us that we want to attack and keep the game going. I thought we played very well.

"Charlton are unbeaten at home, they'd won every single game there but we controlled large parts of the game and looked strong.

"I think we showed a good attitude that we want to attack and we want to keep the game going.

"We played very well and controlled large parts of the game. I was pleased with the performance but frustrated with the result."

Jackett says that, seven games into the league campaign, his players should now be confident in their ability at Championship level.

He added: "Every point you get home or away is hard to get. I don't want to take anything away from what we've done because we've given supporters optimism and players confidence.

"They should be confident they can compete at this level and look to improve."

Jackett admitted the club are looking for reinforcements up front after netting just seven league goals to date.

Southampton's Zambia international Emmanuel Mayuka is the latest man to be linked, but Jackett is realistic about the search.

He said: "Probably 91 other managers would all like another striker. Are we always looking for improvements?

"Yes, of course we're looking for improvement."
