Saturday's 0-0 draw at Blackpool was their fourth clean sheet this season and Wolves have the best defensive record in the Championship with just two goals conceded.

But the blank for Kenny Jackett's side saw their tally stand at six goals in six games.

And with fans calling for the signing of a striker in the loan window, former Chelsea man Saville believes the answer is a collective responsibility.

"I feel we've got a lot of firepower here but I also think it's up to us midfielders to break into the box and score," said the 21-year-old, who made his full debut for his new club at the weekend.

"People like Edo (Dave Edwards) and myself, plus Macca (Kevin McDonald) at times, I think we've all got the responsibility of scoring, not just the strikers.

"If you don't create the chances, you're not going to score the goals.

"I think we were a little bit poor in the final third, and that's where we need to make a couple of improvements.

"We're not too far off – it's just a couple of little things need adjusting and then we can give it a real go this season. We'll work on that and I'm sure it will come soon."

Saville got his first competitive 90 minutes since April 26 and pledged to improve as he gets more action.

"As the season goes on and I get more games, my fitness levels will get higher and I can bring more to the table," he said.

"You can train as much as you like, but match fitness is a different story and you only get that by playing games.

"I was glad to get 90 minutes in and I enjoyed it, it was just a shame about the result."

Saville returns to the capital tomorrow when Wolves go to Charlton, who boast a 100 per cent home record.
