Kenny Jackett: Wolves will rock Blackpool

Boss Kenny Jackett today ordered Wolves to pick up where they left off and race out of the blocks to rock Blackpool on Saturday.Wolves go to the crisis-hit Seasiders seeking to build on the four wins from their first five games that put them third in the Championship before the international break.

Much-changed Blackpool haven’t picked up a point yet under new boss Jose Riga.

His future is already up in the air after chairman Karl Oyston was said to be “bemused” at the coach’s return to Belgium with his family during the international break, while his assistant Bart de Roover quit last week amid claims he hadn’t been paid.

Speculation was rife last week that Owen Coyle, who was the fans’ favourite for the Wolves job before Jackett took charge, was about to take over at Bloomfield Road.

It was reported that Burton Albion manager Gary Rowett turned down the chance to manage the Tangerines, despite Riga still being in charge.

But Wolves head coach Jackett is concentrating on his side and and ensuring they show no ring-rustiness.

“We have to focus on our side and our own performance, to make sure we’re not slow getting started and making sure we don’t lose anything after this two-week period,” said Jackett.

“Having the break isn’t a problem, we just have to make sure we start well. We have to really work hard to get back to where we were.

“It’s about making sure we start from minute one with the form we were in before the international break.”

Blackpool were left with just eight players for much of pre-season, following the exit of former chief Barry Ferguson before a late glut of signings.

But Jackett warns the Tangerines’ early struggles won’t last indefinitely.

“Blackpool’s problems and plight has been well documented but the run they’ve had won’t go on forever and so we have to respect the opposition without focusing on them too much,” he said.

“We’ll pay them respect and realise we’ve got to earn every point we get in the Championship.

“They had a big recruitment drive and brought on a lot of players at one time. Now they are trying to mould them together.”

Wolves midfielder Lee Evans was due back in training today after scoring his second goal in as many games for Wales Under-21s, rescuing a 1-1 draw in Lithuania on Tuesday night.
