Wolves could rekindle their interest in Leicester striker Chris Wood after boss Kenny Jackett revealed they are ready to use the loan window to add new players.

Jackett is still keeping tabs on possible signings despite failing to land a striker before Monday's deadline for permanent new recruits.

And that could open the door to a fresh bid for former Albion forward Wood with the loan window opening next Tuesday.

Wolves made a £1.25m offer for the New Zealand international but the proposed move broke down over personal terms, with the club failing to land any alternative targets.

Jacket said: "The loan window opens within a week and it's open to mid-November.

"So there's not a lot of difference. Ideally you would take permanent signings and be able to work with them from day one of pre-season?

"But if you don't quite get that, you have to adapt. Certainly there's a market for taking a loan player, taking a look at him and converting it to a permanent deal.

"That's something that does work because there can be players who you're not certain about, you give them the opportunity for three or four months and you convert them into permanent signings at the next window.

"But in an ideal world you do your business early and then you've got all the players you want right the way through the season.

"There's a public clamour to always sign players, driven by the media doing their jobs. But inside the we must make sure we strengthen when we feel that player is going to add to us, that's the key for me."

Jackett, who is keen to add extra options in attack, revealed the club already have a list of potential signings.

Wolves could also use the loan window to renew their efforts to offload out-of-favour centre-back Roger Johnson.

A proposed move to Belgian club Genk, now managed by Alex McLeish, fell through on Monday.
