Kenny Jackett today insisted he is at Wolves for the long haul as he was nominated for Championship Manager of the Month.Jackett, who has been named alongside Nottingham Forest’s Stuart Pearce, Neil Adams of Norwich and Millwall’s Ian Holloway, laughed off an early clamour for him to return to Watford.

Some Watford fans led an early campaign on social media for the Molineux head coach to replace Giuseppe Sannino, who was quickly succeeded by former Brighton boss Oscar Garcia.

But Jackett is happy at Molineux, where he believes he continue the short-term success he has brought into the long term.

“In my job where you see yourself and where you are are sometimes two different things!” he said.

“But I enjoy being at Wolves. It’s been a good time, it’s exciting for us and it looks like being an exciting season. It’s an exciting time and all of my focus is on being here now.”

As for Watford, he said: “It isn’t something I’ve thought about or considered since I left. It’s my hometown club, but all of my energies and focus are on Wolves.

“It’s an exciting time to be at Wolves and it’s an exciting project that’s developing well.”

Jackett was surprised at Sannino’s departure, with Watford second in the table.

“It’s an unusual situation with such a good squad, Troy Deeney just signing a four-year contract,” he said.

“If you’re looking at the firepower they’ve got, they look as good as anybody in the division. To turn down really good money for Deeney does show a statement of intent from the club.”

Jackett insists he is receiving the backing of the board to strengthen the squad.

“The board are very supportive but the key is finding the right players for us,” he said.

“If we do we’ll move forward and there are no differences because internally we’re all facing the right way. It’s about trying to tie down those players or player.”

Jackett’s four wins from five and two goals conceded included victories over relegated Premier League sides Norwich, Fulham and Cardiff.

After losing at Molineux, Adams made it 10 points from four matches. Pearce has made an almost perfect return to the City Ground with 13 points from 15.

Holloway brought Millwall’s end-of-season form into this campaign with 10 points from five outings.
