Wolves new-boy Tommy Rowe today declared he is ready for more action after making his comeback last night.

The former Peterborough captain returned in a planned 45-minute run-out in the Under-21s' 2-1 defeat at Albion.

Rowe showed no reaction from the broken metatarsal which has kept him out since the opening friendly at Cheltenham on July 11.

The 25-year-old could even join the first-team squad for tomorrow's Championship trip to Fulham.

But head coach Kenny Jackett believes Saturday's visit of Cardiff is a more realistic option for the versatile left-sided player.

"It was brilliant to be back playing," said Rowe.

"I was a little bit rusty from where I want to be at, but the fitness was there and the sharpness will come with more games.

"I felt quite comfortable - I felt I could have kicked on for another 20 or 30 minutes.

"In terms of sharpness, that comes from training sessions and being around the lads a bit more, which has been happening for the last week and a half.

"It might take another week to get there but hopefully I'll be firing on all cylinders.

"I was happy to get 45 minutes and it was just unlucky about the result.

"Hopefully the lads will get another win tomorrow night and I can see where I am after that.

"The gaffer will probably speak to me at some point this week."

Rowe is looking forward to playing in front of a Molineux crowd for the first time as a Wolves player, after only experiencing the atmosphere before for Posh.

"I'm eager to get back, especially when you see the atmosphere of a home game – to be a part of that would be brilliant and to show the club what I can give," he said.

"I'm not a million miles away from that in terms of fitness and sharpness, so hopefully I can be a part of the training on Thursday and Friday and push myself on."

Rowe played as a central midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 formation last night and has targeted a similar role to play in the senior side.

"Ideally playing where I played last night would be brilliant," he said.

"I like to get forward and make forward runs but I can also stay back and defend, which is important.

"I spoke to the manager and I know he wants that side of it, so I'm happy to play wherever but last night I was put in a position that I will more likely be playing."

Rowe is looking for Wolves to be more clinical after Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Rotherham.

"I know how hard it can be and how brutal it can be," he said.

"You've got to be very clinical in the Championship as was proved on Saturday when we had most of the possession but didn't take our chances.

"I'm sure we've got enough experience and hopefully I can add to it and get the best out of myself and provide the team with another option.

"I've looked around the changing room and there are young players there who have experience.

"Today it's all about youth and having the confidence to express themselves."

And he admits he must improve his own ball retention if he is to make an impact in Wolves' possession game.

"When I watched Wolves last year they always kept the ball well and possession was always hard to take off them," he said.

"When I came to the club I knew what to expect and how my levels of keeping the ball had to be a lot higher.

"We've got players who are comfortable on the ball in all positions.

"You've got to be clinical and finish it, that's what the Championship's all about.

"It's the small differences and hopefully we've learnt from the mistake of not taking those chances on Saturday."
