The Blades player of the year has been the subject of rejected bids of around £1m and £1.5m from Molineux.

Top-flight side Hull City have also been rebuffed in a package of up to £2m with add-ons. Both clubs are unwilling to push the price any higher.

And, with Sheffield United not needing to sell, any hopes of the 21-year-old leaving Bramall Lane appear to be in limbo.

But he suggested he would prefer the lure of top-flight and European football with FA Cup finalists Hull over Wolves' Championship status.

He declared: "Playing in the Premier League and Europe will be a dream for me at this stage of my career."

Blades boss Nigel Clough insisted last week Maguire's attitude in training had been "fine"and reiterated that no bids have yet been received which match the club's valuation.

Maguire added: "I've played nearly 170 games, I'm just 21 and the Sheffield United fans know I've given my all in every game I've played."

The player is into the last year of his contract but United would be entitled to compensation for him next June anyway as he is under 24 and not entitled to a Bosman free transfer.

The Blades offered to significantly improve Maguire's contract recently, before the player's representative told them he wanted to place talks on hold.
