The new Puma strip went on sale this morning online and in the megastores at Molineux and Dudley Street.

It marks a return to the club's long-term change kit of white shirts, white shorts and white socks, with a black, button-down collar and black trim.

The move has delighted many supporters after last season's controversial purple shirt had divided opinion.

This is the first time the club has reverted to all white with black trim since the 2009-10 season and has come after a torrent of requests from fans. The tills were ticking over at the Molineux megastore from 9am today as a team of five staff dealt with customers and packed online orders. James Bradbury, a supermarket worker from Burntwood, was amongst those eager to get their hands on the new shirt.

"I really like the traditional colours," said the 25-year-old."It would have been nice they had added a gold stripe on it somewhere but it is a good shirt all the same."

Adam Wells, an 18-year-old sixth former at Aldersley High School, said he went to the store intending to buy the home shirt, but changed his mind. "As soon as I saw the away kit I really liked it and decided to get that one instead," he said. "It is decent value for money and a big improvement on the purple one."

The strip was also very much in demand for younger fans. Natasha Koralczyk, from Bradmore, turned up to buy full kits for her two sons, Jak and Kye Worall, aged one and nine.

"My eldest has the shirt every year and this is a present from his grandad," said Natasha, who is 27.

Natasha's mother, Irina Sowinska, also got in on the act when she tried on the new florescent pink goalkeeper's top.

Peter Pridmore, merchandise manager at the Molineux Superstore, said the club had already received hundreds of online orders for the shirt.

"The early response has been tremendous," he added.
